Hello all, I heard my first Channel-billed Cuckoo for the year this morning, they appear to arrive in the Hawkesbury 3-4 weeks later than they are recorded in Sydney yet we are only 60km to the N/W. The Pectoral SP still at Pitt Town this morning. A couple of years ago there was some discussion regarding Ballions Crakes and their calls, the call recorded on the BOCA taped series being the recording of a NZ Ballions. Well if anyone as recording equipment there is a pair at Pitt Town Bottoms Rd Pitt Town which are calling well early morning. The two calls I am hearing are a single "krek"and the whirring"chirr" as described in the Pizzey field guides. keith brandwood Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
