The parched state of Australia's interior would seem to be bringing many
birds towards the coast - several sightings from Townsville recently go to prove
this.
A group of 3 Pink-eared Ducks on Ross River near Aplin's Weir (22/8/02).
Grey Butcherbird & Yellow-throated Miner near the picnic areas at Cape
Pallarenda (25/8/02). Grey Butcherbird appears to be a new record for Cape
Pallarenda CP. I mentioned a while ago that Yellow-throated Miners seemed to be
resident at Townsville Golf Club but nowhere else. Both species are found west
of Townsville but seldom in the city.
