Hi all
        Striped Honeyeaters.
Wynnum mangrove boardwalk - literally over the waters of Moreton
Bay,
Tinchi Tamba wetlands - also within meters of the sea and
Murarrie area - approx 2 kms from the ocean as the Honeyeater flies.

I thought they were coastal birds.........................!!

Hi Graham

Striped Honeyeaters have always been resident from the central coast (don't
know how south to the Hawkesbury River) to atleast the northern border of
NSW to my knowledge (Alan Morris will know this). I have had them on most
visits to the Central Coast (every year atleast in the past 7 years in all 4
seasons). There numbers may be increasing (?) and they are usually found in
just about every sitable stand of Casuarina cunninghamina? (the casuarina
you see around the lakes there). Regular locations where they are present
include Chittaway Pt, South Tacoma, Morisset, Long Jetty, Yurrabolong NP
(spelling?), Munmorah SRA to name a few.

they have also occassionally turned up not too far from the coast in Sydney
such as Castlereagh NR (one bird which I saw), Longneck Lagoon and somewhere
along the Georges River.

cheers!

Edwin
