Gidday Birders,
the list of birds for my new house keeps on growing.
On Tuesday (6/6/02) the miners alerted me to the pair of perigrine falcons
flying overhead. Not that unusual, but always nice to see.
Wednesday (7/6/02), was a bit more exciting. I happened to look at one of
the flowering grevilleas in my garden only to see a Port Lincon Parrot
sitting in the top eating the green seeds in a similar mannor to the crimson
rosellas. Not bad, I thought, until it flew off only to be followed by a
second. One aviary escape is unusual, but two?? Really must talk to the guy
across the road and tell him to fix the aviary...
Half and hour later I was treated to 3 Swift Parrots that appeared to have
been feeding quitely in the grey gums across the road, calling only as they
flew off, just so that I wouldn't miss them. (Obviously the real estate
agent got my message). I assume these are the same birds that have been seen
regularly by Carol Probets and others at Yarramundi.
I managed to count 16 species whilst lying in bed this morning, maybe this
is a step up (down?) from birding from a chair???
