Hi Stuart It is highly likely that there is a resident pair of Pacific Bazas (Crested Hawks) at or near Cumberland SF. I know for sure that they breed around Epping/Pennant Hills (only a few km from Cumberland SF) as I have seen a pair feeding yound ones there. I have seen the ones that breed in late spring/early summer at Glenorie (NW Sydney) each year at other times beside the nesting season, at or close to the nesting area. There has been a number of reports of Bazas nesting throughout the Sydney area and they appear to be increasing. Many though do appear to move around in winter. Does anybody know how far south they have bred along the NSW coast? Edwin |
