I was asked to put on this posting on behalf of some clients on a Filed Guides Inc Australian tour. It may be old news but they saw a male Northern Shoveler in breeding dress on the golf course ponds by the Sydney Airport Hilton on June 30th. They are familiar with the bird from North America. Hope it is useful to someone.
