30 June
3 Hooded
Robins were seen in the Grampians region. At Cherrypool turn left (west) onto the
Rocklands-Cherrypool Road. A km or
so along there is a track on the left (southwest) that winds through the forest.
The area searched was centred on
Lat: 37 07 45 Long: 142 09 31, thanks Steve Clark.
25 June
7 Orange-bellied Parrots were seen on the east-west track
at the southern end of the ponds along Austin Road, adjoining the salt marsh, on
the road to Point Wilson in the Werribee Treatment Plant, thanks Tom
Fletcher.
25 June
Two pairs of Red capped Robins were spotted at Woodlands
Historic Park, Melway page 178, just inside the Providence Rd entrance to the
fenced area, there were at least two males with full colour plumage. There may have been more than two
female/immature birds, thanks Joan Broadberry.
23 June
A juvenile Nankeen Night Heron was seen on the Loddon
River, 2 Little Eagles were seen soaring over the Muckleford Forest in a
courtship display and a Great Crested Grebe was seen on lake Cairn
Curran. All birds were seen by
members of Ballarat BOCA on their outing to the Newstead area, in all sixty two
birds were seen for the day, thanks John Alexander.
23 June
At Langi Ghiran State Park (east of Ararat), a flock of about 60
White-winged Choughs, was seen, thanks Steve Clark.

A Black-faced Cormorant was seen at Mornington harbour,
thanks Peter Lansley.
22 June
At Lake Linlithgow, 20km east of Hamilton, in south west Victoria,
7 Freckled Ducks were seen close to Chatsworth Road, thanks Steve
Clark.
22 June
At Lake Bulrush, (adjacent to Lake Linlithgow), there were 500
Banded Stilts, 100 Red-necked Avocets, 100 Red-capped
Plovers, 20 Double-banded Plovers, thanks Steve Clark.
22 June
5 winter plumaged White-winged Black Terns were seen at the
T-section lagoons at the Werribee Sewage Farm, thanks Peter Lansley
18 June
A Southern Boobook was seen in the Peppercorns at the
western end of Bowen Street, Richmond (Melways 2G H4), about 1.7 km east of the
nearest point of the Melbourne CBD, thanks Paul Peake.
Updates
On the
24th of June the Azure Kingfisher was still at the confluence
of Merri Ck and the Yarra right under the freeway bridges and 20 m downstream of
the Alexandra Parade drain outfall, thanks Neville Pamment.
The four Brolga were still present at Reedy Lake, Lake
Connewarre (Lake Moolap Rd entrance) on the 22nd of June check the last ploughed paddock on the right
hand (western) side of Moolap road just before you get to the wetland thanks
Rohan Clarke.
At
Lake Lorne the number of Freckled Duck has increased from 30 to
approximately 150 birds! On the
22nd of June they were near the main road and were very easy to see, thanks
Rohan Clarke.
