Chris Ross suggested that in the past Swift Parrots may have eaten the lerps
that Bell Miners protect.
I doubt whether there would ever have been enough Swift Parrots to eat all
the lerps of coastal NSW and Vic that Bell Miners were protecting. However
in the past there may have been larger flocks of large and aggressive
honeyeaters (I'm thinking of Noisy Friarbird, and maybe Regent Honeyeaters!)
that could have done this.
