g'day all,

A big problem, we no doubt have all come across, is where the one common name is used to refer to different species.

The classic would have to be TOPKNOT PIGEON

Almost universally in this area the CRESTED PIGEON is always referred to as a Topknot P.
In fact some locals have got very hot under the collar and told me I don't know what I'm talking about when I try to tell them they are not Topknots !

And more confusing is that many call the SPINIFEX PIGEON the Crested P !

Regards, Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld.
