Hi Birders
I read with interest Alan's synopsis of YFHE
migration north of the Hunter Valley. Here, in Wallsend, just to the north
of Mt Sugarloaf, YFHE's appear to be moving in a steady stream in a
south-west to north-east direction. The birds appear to be coming from Mt
Sugarloaf across to the the Minmi/Maryland corridor. The highest
abundance of birds was about 2-3 weeks ago, however, there are still relatively
moderate numbers of YFHE's moving through in the past few days. There have
been large numbers of YFHE's moving through the Wetlands Centre site at nearby
Shortland and up to the Maitland area. There has also been large flocks of
Silvereyes moving through as well.
