I'm merely forewarding this. I don't know anything about Birds Australia
council elections, maybe I've missed something in my mail.

But I share Rob Gration's view that the Melbourne Botanical Gardens
treatment of Grey Headed Flying Foxes was disgraceful.

HI all, thought batliners might be interested to know
that DR Phillip Mooor (director of MBG) the number one
advocate for the Grey Headed flying fox cull in MBG is
nominating for the council of Birds Australia. Birds
Australia is ( formerly Royal Ornitholigal Society of
Australia) Australia's premier advocate on Bird issues
and its members are made up of leading researchers and
amatuer ornithologists.

Interestingly his profile for the upcoming election
makes no mention of the Flying Foxe issue, only his
previous work dealing with conservation and research
with birds. Lets only hope a threatened species of
bird does not take up residence at RBG and starts to
create "management problems". I have been a member of
birds aus for less than a year, if he is elected my
membership will be short lived one.

It's a funny old world.

Cheers
Rob
