bees and birds

Whilst observing bees frantically doing their bit around probably the only flowering gum for some distance,it occurred to me that birds were not to be seen within range. The flowering was new and fully open. Do bees irritate birds? or is the peak flowering time for bees different to the time for birds. Jacqui Sheppard
