As a sound recordist, I have to say that the humming sounds of bees have
marred many of my recordings of birdsong, i.e. the birds and the bees are
all in there together, feeding on tree blossoms. For example, in flowering
White Box trees I have recorded Little Lorikeets calling really well but the
constant drone of European bees was impossible to avoid. Ditto Fuscous
Honeyeaters. I have a recording from Kakadu Nat. Park of Bar-breasted
Honeyeaters, marred by the loud drone of 3 different species of native
bee/fly. The honeyeaters and lorikeets seemed undeterred in all cases.
