The lakes at Burswood are good, but the best waterbird sites in Perth usually are Herdsman Lake, Lake Monger and Eric Singleton Nature Reserve (Bayswater Bird Sanctuary). Lake Joondalup can also have a large number of birds of many species, but the birds can be much further away. Bibra Lake / North Lake are the better lakes south of the river. Michael Hunter was also referring to Alfred Cove (not Arthur Cove). Grey-tailed Tattler is unusual there, but they are recorded near the rocks to the west of the Applecross jetty which is not too far away. ___________________________________________________________________ Frank O'Connor Birding WA http://members.iinet.net.au/~foconnor Phone : (08) 9386 5694 Email : Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
