Dear Birders, birdwatchers & bird netters

Like one or two others I found good numbers of White-throated Needletails and Fork-tailed Swifts between Tully and Cairns in January.  Also found good numbers of the former around the Dandenongs east of Melbourne as January turned to February.

I would appreciate reports either to the net or directly that indicate where these two species are over the next six or so weeks.  They are not seen in Tassie each year but it is not clear if that is because they do not go that far each year or because there are so few observers that way.

As usual I will post a summary of the interesting records.  Please remember to send sightings in to the atlas as well.

Happy swift hunting.

PS  I saw a Papuan Needletail here in PNG last Sunday.

cheers

Mike
