Buff-banded rail, Geelong

The easiest and most reliable place to see buff-banded rail in the Geelong 
is on the campus of Deakin University, Waurn Ponds.  Take your lunch and 
sit on the seat beside the lake behind the library and several will wander 
around your feet for sure.

A $2.50 parking fee applies during the week unless you want to walk several 
hundred metres from the free carpark.  Deakin is also a great place to see 
yellow-tailed black cockatoos which seem to be resident, lorikeets and 
often a common bronzewing in Carpark 3.  I think Margaret Cameron has done 
a seasonal/frequency birdlist.
