Its my understanding that "Beak and Feather Disease" is regrettably common among wild cockatoos. It certainly received plenty of publicity here in South Aus a few years ago and was believed to be spreading. I haven't heard anything about it for a while though. I suggest you type "Beak and Feather Disease" in to the http://www.google.com search engine. Its bound to bring up plenty of info. Good luck.
