There was good birding in Queenscliff and environs over the week-end:
Friday, 16/02/02...40 White-throated Needletails preceded a severe squally
change by 30 minutes and flew over Swan Bay W>E
Saturday,17/02/02...Red-neck Phalarope at Hospital Swamps
Saturday, 17/02/02...Lake Victoria. Banded Stilts still in huge numbers but
more exciting to watch than week before, as they were flying up in groups
of 100 or so, wheeling and whooshing past me. Also, 2 Pied
Oystercatchers...a first for me at this site. Musk Ducks were plentiful
and big numbers of Stints. Sharp-tail S/Ps and Curlew S/Ps.
Evening of 17/02/02...resident pair of Grey-tailed Tattlers, west of Boat
Ramp at Queenscliff.
Most enjoyable few hours Denise Moore
PS Almost forgot.....March Flies outnumbered the Stilts at Lake Victoria!!
