It was discovered over the weekend that the site on Hope Island (SE Qld)
mentioned last week and visited by many over the weekend, is listed for
possible development. One of the local residents was delighted with the
information that all the activity was to observe a rare bird as it adds to
their ammunition to use fighting the development.
In light of this, it would be appreciated if all those who visit the site
would send me a complete list of species seen, no matter how small. Since
last Wednesday, the total of species seen exceeds 55. This is for a
relatively small parkland right beside a busy road. Truly a little gem
which would have remained undiscovered if not for Bruce Roubin on holidays
from Sydney. The birders of Southern Queensland thank you again Bruce.
Could those who belong to groups such as Birds Queensland or know of birders
not on the net who have (or plan to) visited this site please pass this
message on?
