G'day my Good friend Terry,
Shame on you Terry, have you lost all your training?
enlist up with the arsonist? ..... join them ....
swell the numbers beyond human believe .... then at
the choice moment when they are lighting the next
fire? you offer to carry the can? but accidently you
find the petrol can you are holding for them has a
convenient
leak? and it's spilling petrol, would you believe?,
and on the inside leg section of their trousers, you
find they have quickly put out their cigarette
lighter, you cuss, you offer them a bright spark?
other then me or
Tony or Mike or Russell or many others on this
brilliant list.
As the arsonist/s runs off you offer your help, even
more so, you can't figure out what is wrong with the
arsonist that screams? as the petrol removes the
natural body oils, you catch them soaking parts of
their body in the nearest stream.
At this point your kindness takes over you offer a
cigarette, the arsonist takes one, you offer a light,
the arsonist accepts, you lean forward with lighter in
one hand and that can in the other.
Or?
Contact your nearest CFA member who spent time in the
USA fighting fires or waving to ELVIS in New South
Wales.
If I was a half decent judge or magistrate in Oz could
I not turn a blind eye?
G'day mate yep I'm back.

Not content with burning down the boardwalk in the
Wetlands area of Coombabah Reserve, the arsonists
decided to set another section of the reserve alight
yesterday.
Even before I wrote yesterday's posting, they were at
it again. Apparently, the fire brigade has been called
out to fight fires in the reserve eighteen times in
the last two weeks.
For those who are unaware, this area is at the
northern end of the Gold Coast coastal strip and
adjoins the Coombabah Lakes and creek. It is
maintained by the Gold Coast City Council with full
time rangers and kilometres of walking tracks. It
covers a wide range of habitats and is a birders'
paradise. It is adjacent to the Treatment Works and
combining the two can produce well over a hundred
species on many occasions. Two of us counted 43
species in just over an hour and a half,
yesterday morning, at the treatment plant.
The police are now patrolling with dogs to try and
find the culprits but it would be advisable if those
planning a visit waited until the arsonists are caught
or give up their stupid little game. The twin dangers
of fire and police dogs would seem to make birding in
the reserve a non-event at present.
