Dear Jack, I had the same experience at Ball's Head Waverton a year ago. Again, 4 birds, making such a racket that I was induced to drive to the scene from my home across Berry's Bay, just in time to see 2 birds fly off and the remaining pair mating, with the male(?) at one point flying upside down and grabbing the beak of the other bird with its bill. A pretty spectacular sight. The Noisy Miners, whose angophora patch this is, were impressed enough to be ( for them) relatively quiet spectators.
