G'day All,
I spend a lot of time out in deep mallee and ALWAYS have a compass, there is nothing hard to learn, the needle always points north.  When you leave your vehicle, note which direction the track runs, and remember which direction you headed off, so, to find the track again just walk in the opposite direction from where you started, of course, I am talking about areas like , Murray Sunset,Peebinga,Billiat Danggali,Calperum,Gluepot etc. which are all reasonably flat and most tracks are long and straight, and I rarely venture more than 3Km into the scrub and even though I have a GPS I seldom use it other than for atlas sites, I must learn how to use way-points hmm hmm
