Hi Birding-aussers,
Took a young birder from Holland (Sander) to Sherwood Park in Brisbane to look for crakes on Sunday 7th. Found lots of Baillons and good views of Bush-hen out in the open plus one Spotless Crake that I saw but Sander didn't.
Today I had to go to work so I directed Sander to Pine Rivers Park near Strathpine where Spotless Crakes are reliable. He finally got to see the bird but also turned up an SEQ rarity, Pectoral Sandpiper. I have seen this species at this location before, Sander by the way is familiar with this bird in Holland. From his description it sounds like a non-breeding adult female. Cheers & good birding - Paul Walbridge.
