Syd,
They were most likely Western Bristlebirds. There is (at least) a pair
very close to the car park at Little Beach. You can often see them cross
the road, and sometimes they make their way down the side of the road and
even under the car. The Western Bristlebird certainly duets. It is a
wonderful melody, and my favourite of the big three at TPB.
You can hear Western Whipbirds from the car park, but not nearly as common
as the Western Bristlebird, and usually further up the slope towards where
you hear the Noisy Scrubbird.
