Anthea has been told that she has to give LAT/LONG references rather
than UMG. As many of the maps I use have UMG only I have the GPS set for
UMG; even when using 1:25 000 survey maps UMG is much quicker for
locating yourself on the map than LAT/LONG.
OK, the GPS has the alogrithms built in, so if I could save the location
as a waypoint I could reset the display at home and run through the
waypoints in L/L form. Trouble is that with the memory full of Aust
locations, there doesn't seem to be room for waypoints.
And what about all the atlassers who don't have GPS devices? They
weren't available for the first atlas scheme and I ruled the 6'
divisions on the 1:100 000 and 1:250 000 maps and scaled distances along
the main roads.
I'm certain that someone out there has copies of the algorithms so that
I can feed the UMG figures to the computer and get the L/L answers.
PLEASE???
