Hi Irene,
            I was there the day before you, leading a NSW FOC outing. We too
observed a single Beautiful Firetail. I've seen them at various locations
in the Mountains up as far as Wentworth Falls. We also had good views of a
couple of Red Browed Treecreepers. Highlight of the day was a "hot spot" at
the junction of Shaws Ridge and Blue Gum Swamp tracks just below the White
Cross Rd car park,containing Brown, Striated,Buff Rumped Thornbills and a
Weebill together. It certainly made Thornbill identification easier to have
all three in the one spot. Then a Rock Warbler turned up as final bird of
the day.
