Dear Peter Many thanks for the information extracted from Hanzab. The most interesting point to me was about Red-rumps feeding mainly on leaves, especially those of Polygonum aviculare (Prostrate Knotweed). Schodde and Tidemann said they mainly eat seeds (including Triticum - wheat). As for the pigeons I guess there is no seed exclusive to any of these species. So how do they partition their habitat ? Incidentally, our local Common Bronzewings have recently been reported feeding on seeds of Black Wattle (Acacia mearnsii) and Sweet Bursaria.
