A quick question regarding Sooty Owls. Does anyone know if they darken as
they age? Saw one on Saturday night in Royal NP (south of Sydney) which had
a very dark back, but extremely pale face (seemed almost white in the
spotlight). This is the best view I have had of Sooty Owl (the other was a
brief flight glimpse), but it seemed much paler than the two Lesser Sooties
I have seen up north.
No doubts about ID, but has anyone else seen pale Sooties or have any ideas
on aging.
Cheers, Peter _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
