Hi Birders,

Another quiet week, but with the heat wave temperatures experienced in Victoria this week, I guess people did not venture too far from an air conditioner!

The House Crow has not been seen since the 28th of January and the Lesser Yellowlegs at Werribee seems long gone, however the Pectoral Sandpiper has been seen again in Bendigo in the past week.

Highlights of the last couple of weeks include:

4 February
A single Glossy Ibis  approximately 1 km along the Daylesford - Newstead Road from the Daylesford end (i.e. 1 km from the Midland Highway), thanks Bob & Sadhana Cook
1 February
A Black Falcon near the Nobbies on Phillip Island, thanks Laurie Living.
20 January
A Red-chested Button-quail, seen at Gunbower Island, thanks Chris Coleborn
19 January
A Wood Sandpiper, not seen since 1987 by this observer, was seen at Seaford Swamp, among a flock of 200 Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, thanks Sean Dooley
19 January
A female White-winged Triller was seen feeding a juvenile at Langwarrin Flora and Fauna Reserve, confirming breeding of this bird reported in November on Birdline, thanks Sean Dooley
19 January
A female Painted Button-Quail at Langwarrin Flora and Fauna Reserve, the first seen by the observer for 22 years! It was seen at the junction of Centre Break and Reservoir Rd, thanks Sean Dooley
17 January
A House Crow was seen at Cowrie Beach (about 400 m before the Nobbies) on Phillip Island, where it probably jumped ship from a container liner, thanks Mike Carter
13 January
Only the second record, if confirmed of a Pectoral Sandpiper from the Bendigo region at the Bendigo Mining Evaporation Ponds on the road to Dingee and Mitiamo at Woodvale, 20 km's north of Bendigo, thanks Chris Tzaros
