Hi everyone/ Russ Lamb, I suppose we are talking about the Long -tailed Cuckoo Russ, I dont think it is this species as the brief discription "says white streaks on its head" they must have been obvious if this is the main ID feature listed. This fits more the description of a juv Common Koel, as the L/t/Cuckoo as a thin pale supercillium which does not stand out as a obvious feature. There are no confirmed records of this species for Australia probably the reason for it not being in most field guides.
