On Saturday 2nd February on a visit to the Little Tern colony in Botany Bay,Geoff Ross and I heard the familiar call of a Sooty Tern and then observed an adult and immature Sooty Terns flying very low over the southern end of Towra Spit Island allowing us a good view of both birds . They then flew off in a North easterly direction.
We are not sure if Sooty Terns have been seen in Botany Bay before though they have been reported further south.
