Hi Arron,

the Peregrine is an uncommon but regularly seen species in Sydney. I have regularly seen them in the area of North Rocks Rd (and around Excelsior Reserve nearby).

During my 16 years residence in the Willoughby municipal area they have always been present, my last sighting being yesterday on my return from the Christmas break.

regards, Andy

Yesterday I was standing near North Rocks Road in the
Sydney suburb of Carlingford when all the noisy miners
began their alarm calls and a peregrine falcon flew
past. This is the first one I have seen after 6 years
in the area and was surprised as there are not many
tall buildings or cliff faces about.

Is this a local bird ? Has anyone else seen it in the
area ?

Arron
