Eight birders turned up last night(30/12/) at Cedars Rd swamp near
Newcastle to see the Painted Snipe. A delightfully cryptic male was
located "inside" a stump in the mud hiding from the prying eyes of the
birders and the preying eyes of the patrolling White-breasted Sea
Eagles. The female was seen prior to our arrival but unfortunately
remained out of sight for the duration of the time we spent there.
As a bonus a single Wood Sandpiper and Black-tailed Native Hen were
seen.
Thanks to Richard Baxter for his posting.
