With a recent report of a Forest Kingfisher at Thornleigh (a northern suburb of Sydney), this means atleast one has turned up in Sydney in the past 5 years. Could this be the same individual seen in the last 5 years or is it a regular but rare migrant to Sydney (probably more so the later case). There appear to be both winter and summer records for this bird in Sydney. To my knowledge in NSW, they don't normally come down further south than Port Macquarie about 450km north of Sydney CBD, but have heard of several records between there and Sydney. Have seen atleast one myself in Sydney recently.
