Looks like the Koel invasion continues. Don't they like it in Queensland any
more?
A friend here in Geelong was describing (very clearly) a call he heard recently
- it was of course a Koel, although he didn't claim it as such because (A) he
isn't very familiar with the species and (B) he didn't think anyone one would
believe him. He has lived in this area and recorded birds and their movements
for about 25 years, but is always very conservative about claiming anything
unusual. Anyway, he doesn't think the bird he heard could be anything except a
Koel, doing the "ko-el" call.
He saw the bird indistinctly in the top of a loquat tree at Geelong Grammar
School, beside Corio, north of Geelong. Is this a first for the area?
