In light of the information given by Lorne, I suppose Don Burke might be off the list of suitable birding advocates. However, I won't leap to judgement without hearing his arguaments about the magpies being genetically defective. Does anyone know what the exact problem was supposed to be? As for the possums - I love them as much as the next person (I've got a rescued orphan Brushtail that I reared. He is de-sexed, cuddly and lives in an aviary) but re-locating them from one's roof to another place is almost always a fairly quick and unpleasant death sentence so I suppose there is sometimes a case for humane euthanasia if its impossible to live with them.
