This thread reminds of a notice pinned to the toilet wall at the Gulf Local
Authority Development offices in Cairns, which stated:

"God put me on earth to achieve a certian number of things - right now I am
so far behind I will never die'.

One thing that does not seem to have been mentioned is committee member
burn-out rates, which I succumbed to in 1999 but soldiered on until June
2000, as writer and Editor for the bird club newsletter and helping on
wader surveys during the last wet. Coupled with family commitments, earning
a living and trying to finish my Masters degree my birding efforts have
lagged of late, so I can understand a reluctance of some members not to
take on more, and of those of us who [temporarily I hope] have nothing in
the tank left to give.
