Hi John I have heard of several sightings of Emerald Doves along Cattai Creek that runs through Mitchell Park and even at this Park. There are Emerald Doves throughout the northern suburbs and in the Royal NP and these doves have been seen on the western outskirts, even at Cobbity. I have only seen one myself in Sydney in someones garden near Dural. They are in the Illawarra Escarpment to the south of Sydney and probably range all the way south to almost the VIC border (but Alan may want to confirm that). I see/hear them just about everytime when I am in the rainforests in the Central Coast just north of Sydney. They are genearlly much quieter than the other pigeons and are probably more of them than we suspect in Sydney. Edwin |
