Though Birds Australia has without doubt made
a very strong contribution to bird conservation by acquiring the Glue Pot and
Newhaven areas (and a brilliant job they have done), can we make a strong
recommendation that if we are serious towards the protection of our birds,
we must publicise on TV (and screened during prime time), on
Billboards, the major Newspapers etc. We should be targeting the attention of
all the Australian population to gain nationwide support. We can raise
money through donations and through various other means to fund all
this and I am sure many would be prepared to contribute.
We can all share our suggestions through
Birding-aus on how we can go about this in a creative way. I hope there will be
many in full support.
Our beautiful birds deserve to be given the same
attention as our athletes got during the recent Olympics!!!
NOW is the time to do this!
