I do not usually involve myself in the sometimes vitriolic personal
attacks on "birding-aussers" that sometimes takes place on this list but in
this instance I have been moved to comment.
I was disgusted and disappointed to read the response to Andrew Staffords
possible explanation for the large numbers of shearwaters dying along the
coastline. I happen to agree with Alan Morris and Andrew as I too have been
witness to some spectacular wrecks over the years which sometimes makes you
wonder how the population can sustain their numbers.Until someone can
provide evidence to the contrary I think Alan and Andrews comments on the
situation is probably the right one.
John Gamblin should publicly apologise to Andrew for the unwarranted attack
on him and if this sort of behaviour is allowed to continue on birding-aus
I for one will be unsubscribing!! Please can we get back to what this
forum is about, birding news and issues, not personal attacks on each
other. We are all entitled to our opinions which should be respected by
all. We are supposed to be on the same side!! Lets keep it this way.
   Bett Mitchell.
