Hi Barbara,
Thanks for organising the extra Eden pelagic on Saturday.
From
the upper cabintop we also saw what was presumably a Black-bellied
Storm-Petrel, white belly and rump, at 30m.
Also, two sightings of a possible Tahiti Petrel among the Short-tailed and
occassional Sooty Shearwaters, ie very white belly sharply cutoff from black
chin and throat, otherwise dark underwings, dark back, seen at about
200m.Same approximate size as accompanying Shearwaters. The same as numerous
Tahiti Petrels we've just seen on the Ashmore Reef trip.
The Short-tailed Shearwaters were very hungry, two landed on the boat, and
the Buller's Albatross ravenous, returning again and again to the stern for the
shark liver chum.
Cheers
Michael
