At Barren Grounds (nr. Robertson, NSW) on Sunday 29/10, 4 p.m., we saw
an Eastern Bristlebird with a red ring.
Doubtless the Warden there keeps tabs on his Bristlebirds, so there is
probably nothing unusual about this, but I mention it, just in case. Is
there anyone I should be passing this on to? Unfortunately the sighting
was for half a second only under a tussock, followed by a swift flight
across the path, so that I cannot say even which leg the ring was on,
let alone what other rings it may have had.
Sadly no Ground Parrots were seen, but the place seemed to be swarming
with Fan-Tailed Cuckoos. About one every forty metres round the
Griffith Loop track!
