Hi all, While plaudits have rightly been handed out to Margaret Cameron and Andrew Isles for their production of Australian Birding, great credit should also be accorded the magazine's founder David Andrew. Inspired by the late John McKean's Cosmic Flashes, David - a former editor of Wingspan - got the magazine up and running at considerable expense and built up the "look" that Margaret successfully built upon. It was a significant contribution to the birding community and its folding is a sad loss. I won't comment on the role of Birds Australia or even birding-aus in that loss, but it seems to me that an online magazine will be the most likely future publishing alternative. Cheers, AS |
