Can anyone help with some advice here, please? My suggestion would
be to leave the bird where it is in case a parent was continuing to
feed it. I guess it's a bit late for that now ...

Good afternoon Mr Woodford
Today I visited your website, Birding-aus looking for any information that
may be available on hand rearing a baby magpie. I came across him yesterday
on my way home noticed that he couldn't fly. He has obviously fallen from
his nest. He doesn't seem hurt at all which is fortunate. He is fully
feathered but only has very short tail feathers and most of his body
feathers are very downy. I am using a syringe (without needle obviously) to
give him water and this seems to be working quite well. Can you please
advise how much I should try to give him and how often. (I am away from the
house at work from 7.30 am and my husband is usually home from about 4 pm.)
I understand that he is a carnivore and therefore we have tried feeding him
small pieces of mince until we find out what is more appropriate.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Kind regards
Erin Barlow
