I have read frequent postings of the move south of
the Common Myna but very little about the reverse movement of the Common
Blackbird.
Two years ago, I was surprised and shocked to find
them in Tamworth (NSW) and a visit there last weekend produced numbers of them
in gardens both in Tamworth and Barraba.
I have also heard they are now in Toowoomba. Is
this true? And do they pose as big a threat to native species as the
Myna?
They certainly seem to only settle in towns and I
have never seen them in anything but gardens over the years. So they don't seem
to displacing any native species. Any comments?
