This Wandering Whistling Duck has been in the Royal Botanic Gardens for about 5 
years, it is a free flying zoo bird and it appears to go back to the zoo for 
some short periods of time. It would appear to have taken the Royal Botanic 
Garden ponds as its home.

 Hi Netters,
            On a walk through the Sydney Botanic Gardens yesterday, I heard
a whistle coming from the pond in front of the resturant.
            A Wandering Whistling-Duck was feeding on bread being put into
the pond by visitors. There is a metal ring on the right leg.
