maned duck

hi folks,

we've got between 8-10 pairs of (wild) maned wood ducks on our farm. they
like the area around the dam and often wander about the whole place.

we've cleared quite a bit of undergrowth(broom/brush) in summer/autumn.
especially around the dam. now we are worried the ducks won't find (m)any
nice little nesting places. is there anything we can do to facilitate their
nest-building? (some kind of shelter/whatever?)

they've come to this farm for the last few years and we just love to see
them around. especially when the parents teach their young how to swim. :)

last summer we had two big families (one with 10 ducklings and one with 9
ducklings). it seems some of the young have come back here with their
mates. :)

any help/advice on 'nest-building' most welcome.

andrea :)
