July 16 2000 Mulgoa Valley- Mayfair Rd. About 10am there were alarm calls and the immaculate white phase Grey Goshawk we see about every three months flew up and stared down at us from 100 m away. [OK I assume it to be the same one, always in roughly the same spot] Also a Brown-headed Honeyeater feeding on the ground pulling a large caterpillar out of the grass. We've had a Fantailed Cuckoo around the house for the last 6 weeks. Cheers Michael and Penny Hunter Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
