Hi Russ,

Yes, unfortunately Common Mynas have been sighted in Landsborough before,
on a number of occasions. The greatest concentration of Mynas on the
Sunshine Coast seems to centre around Beerwah. They have been in Caboolture
for a few years, and on the Sunshine Coast have been seen, since the first
sighting by Chris Smith in April, 1998, in places like Donnybrook, Toorbul,
Bribie Island, Conondale, Wamuran, Glasshouse, Kilcoy, Nambour, Mountain
Creek and a few other places. We have about 135 records on the file,
although many of these are reports of the same flock. Their numbers will
surely increase as more and more hinterland bushland is cleared for
housing. Undergraduates at the Sunshine Coast University did some work on
them last year, and I hope that this year's group for that unit will also
show some interest in taking last year's basic work a bit further.

Thanks for your record Russ, and I hate to say it, but please keep them
coming to me. If any other Sunshine Coast (Bribie to Noosa to Kilcoy)
subscribers are reading, please take note of my email address, and send me
any records.

Date, name and address, phone, number of birds, location of sighting,
habitat, activity. I would especially be interested in knowing about any
breeding, preferably when it is occuring.

Cheers,

Jill
