There are huge numbers of White-naped Honeyeaters in the upper Blue
Mountains at the moment, feeding around the Katoomba escarpment on Banksia
ericifolia nectar and gleaning for insects on eucalyptus foliage and bark.
Every morning flocks of 50+ have been wheeling around near my house, with a
few Yellow-faced tagging along. Recently I also went to Hassan's Walls near
Lithgow where the trees were absolutely full of honeyeaters, mainly
White-naped, also New Holland, Yellow-faced, Brown-headed and quite a few
Fuscous. This was around the unnamed lookout and picnic shelter between
Padley's Pedestal and Bracey's Lookout. It's only the second time I've seen
Fuscous there.
Cheers,
Carol
